About Our Clinic

Our clinic first opened in 2010 as Ohigesenseino Children’s Clinic.
 
From the beginning, we have aimed to provide a safe and reassuring environment for all patients, including those with infectious illnesses. Each of our nine consultation rooms is fully private and equipped with its own independent ventilation system.
Patients can complete their medical interview, examination, blood tests, and vaccinations within the same consultation room. For patients with infectious illnesses, even payment can be completed in the room, helping to minimize contact with others.
 
This approach proved especially valuable during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing us to safely care for many patients with fever while reducing the risk of infection within the clinic.
 
Vaccination has also been one of my main areas of focus since the clinic first opened.
At that time, Japan was sometimes described as being behind other countries in vaccination policy, and several vaccines that were routinely available overseas could not yet be used in Japan.
“I want to protect as many children as possible from diseases that can be prevented by vaccines.”
 
Driven by this belief, I have continued to give lectures and share reliable information about vaccination. We were also among the first clinics in Hokkaido to introduce imported vaccines that were otherwise extremely difficult to access in the region. Over time, patients began visiting us not only from across Hokkaido, but also from many parts of the Tohoku region.
 
In recent years, the demand for travel vaccines has grown rapidly as more people study abroad, take overseas assignments, or travel internationally for extended periods.
At the same time, vaccines recommended at different stages of adult life—such as vaccines against shingles, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and pneumococcal disease—are becoming increasingly important.
 
However, social media and the internet also contain a great deal of information that is not supported by reliable scientific evidence. Even today, children and adults continue to become seriously ill or lose their lives to infections that could have been prevented.
In response to this situation, I came to believe that my role moving forward should be to provide accurate information to as many people as possible and help them make appropriate vaccination decisions.
 
On October 1, 2026, Ohigesenseino Children’s Clinic was relaunched as Dr. OHIGE Vaccine Clinic, a specialist vaccination clinic serving everyone from infants to adults.
I have cared for children as a pediatrician for more than 20 years. Drawing on that experience, when infants and children visit us for vaccination, we can also provide care for minor health concerns, such as eczema or mild symptoms, when necessary.
For adults, consultations are generally limited to vaccination-related care.
 
Private-room care with a strong focus on infection prevention has been at the heart of our clinic since it first opened. We now combine this environment with the specialist knowledge and experience in vaccination that we have developed over many years.
 
Our goal is to remain a clinic where everyone—from newborn babies to older adults—can receive vaccinations safely and with confidence.
